I was so honored to be a part of this gorgeous celebration, and even more honored to be featured in The Knot Print Edition! James and Alastair were so fun to work with. The shots we did around town really highlighted how perfect a San Francisco wedding can be! The Embarcadero has so many fun spots for great photo ops. It was especially fun to shoot them down on the waterfront on such a bright and sunny day!
They designed the whole thing with The Great Gatsby as a theme, which is Alastair’s favorite book. They took the Roaring 20’s/art deco style of the book, but then added some really cool, modern twists, like their custom three-piece suits, designed to look like the ones Tobey Maguire and Leo DeCaprio wore in the 2013 movie adaptation!
The wedding and reception were held on the rooftop of Hotel Vitale, a totally hip spot down on the Embarcadero. The ceremony took place in the afternoon with the Ferry Building clock tower as a backdrop--totally picture perfect! They chose super elegant purple orchids as splashes of color against mostly white flowers, and the rest of their color scheme included gold and dark blue, including an amazing navy blue and white three-tiered wedding cake.
They had some really cute touches, like the antique typewriter that guests could use to write a note for their guest book. They also asked guests to leave a message in a custom-made wine box. They plan on reading the messages on their first anniversary together while they drink the wine. They also came up with two signature cocktails for the party, the Long Island Express and the Duesenberg!
Alastair and James, I was so honored to be a part of your special day, and I wish you many, many years of happiness and wedded bliss!
