You’ve got the perfect guy (congrats!!), and now it’s time to plan the wedding of your dreams! Once you’re done showing off your engagement ring, the first thing you should do is pick a location. (After you buy every issue of every bridal magazine you can find, that is!) But before you can pick a location you need to know a few things--like are you having a religious ceremony in a church? And how big is your guestlist? The answers to these questions will drive your search in the beginning, and then you’ll narrow your choices down from there.
A lot of couples go the traditional route, with a church wedding followed by a party somewhere like a reception hall or a hotel. Using a hotel ballroom as your reception location definitely has its benefits--they host events like this all the time so they know what they’re doing, and they have staff to take care of all the details, and they probably have all their own vendors so you don’t have to do all that legwork yourself.
On the other hand you may have your heart set on something out-of-the-ordinary, like a reception in the park (brave if you live in San Francisco, especially during our cold, cold summers!) or at a museum or a small vineyard. These kinds of weddings can put more burden on you, if you have to choose a caterer, rent equipment, hire staff, etc. Choosing a unique location will make your day extra special, but it also might make for extra work.
In the end, think about what will work best for you and all your guests. You want this to be the best day of your life--and you want your guests to have the time of their life, too! Do you have any ideas for unique wedding venues in the Bay Area?
