Your engagement ring is drool-worthy, and you can’t stop staring at it or waving it in front of your friends’ jealous faces! But now it’s time to pick out wedding bands, and you’re not sure what to choose. Traditionally the bride and groom wear matching bands, but this has fallen out of style lately. What’s best for you and your hubby-to-be? Don’t worry, I’m here to walk you through a few possibilities!
These days some couples go for rings that have some similar element or feature to them, without being matchy-matchy. Maybe a detail or pattern that are the same, but on different styles or sizes of bands.
A new trend in wedding rings this year is rose gold, but maybe your guy isn’t going for that. Why not get similar style bands, but in different metals? They could be styled the same, but maybe his could be platinum or white gold?
Another hot style is an eternity ring as a wedding band. These are AMAZING, but your guy probably won’t want to wear one, too. But what about a band for him that incorporates small gems? Gem-set bands for men are another totally now trend. The only drawback to an eternity band is that it would be hard to resize down the road if you ever (gasp) need a larger sized ring.
You could also consider stacking rings, which are pretty much every girls’ dream. The idea is that you get a smaller, simpler wedding band, but with the expectation that you’ll add to your stack of rings for milestones like anniversaries or babies. Cha-ching, if you go this route, you’re setting yourself up for repeat jewelry gifts!
Whatever route you choose, there are a few guidelines to keep in mind. After all, you’re going to wear this ring every day! Choose something that you think you can live with forever. And although you want it to be stunning, you don’t want the wedding band to outshine your totes amazing engagement ring!
