I have had the pleasure of working with Katherine Noller-Fernandez on one of my favourite weddings I shot in 2014 at the Crocker Art Museum. If you look in my galleries at Remona and Gary's wedding you will her handy work. Also I wrote a featured blog post about their day too. I cannot express how kind, caring and thorough Katherine is. While working with her I could tell there were so many little things that needed to get done, but she already knew about them or could anticipate them and what she could to do facilitate accomplishing them. I can attest that Katherine truly is one of the best out there.
Question: What is your background in event and wedding planning?
Answer: I was an intern with Custom Celebrations in 2001, became a partner is 2002 and then the sole owner in 2004. Custom Celebrations coordinated my wedding back in 2001. I always wanted to be a wedding coordinator but decided to put that passion on the back burner to obtain my B.S. in Psychology and M.A. in Counseling Education. I was working in the Psychology field and did not like it. At age 24 I was accepted to a doctorate program and was on the fence about pursuing my Ph.D in psychology. Upon meeting the owners of Custom Celebrations we clicked immediately. They wanted to know why I was not in the wedding planning business and informed me that the original owner was planning on selling the business and her partner needed someone to assist her. After my wedding I decided to accept the offered internship, said no thank you to the doctorate program and started working for a start up to obtain business experience while interning with Custom Celebrations.
Question: What do you love most about your couples?
Answer: That they trust me with their vision and special day. I love that they are comfortable and trust me with entering into their world and family too :)
Question: What are your couples like?
Answer: Super sweet, driven, down to earth and know what they want.
Question: What do you love most about your job?
Answer: Learning about new customs, cultures and tastes that my clients have. I also love seeing my clients and their guests happy with the events that we assisted in planning. Knowing that my clients trust me is also at the top of my list!
Question: What do you do better than anyone else?
Answer: I would say my follow up with my clients, vendors, etc is impeccable. Keeping my clients on task and making sure that the wedding planning process and actual wedding, events, etc run smooth, on time and always make sure I have a plan B to fall back on.
Question: What is the number One thing people should know about you and Custom Celebrations?
Answer: Custom Celebrations is present to represent the client and their wants, needs and desires for planning a signature event/wedding. We are very team driven and know that all members need to be on board for seeing and knowing what is always the best need of the client not themselves.
